Jerry's Restaurant Protest
Waitresses at the Jerry’s Drive-In Restaurant registered a friendly protest after hearing a report that the company was ordering new chemise uniforms for all its waitresses. The women reported for work dressed in uniforms made of burlap sacks in May 1958. From left to right, Billie Columbia, Doris Jones, Melba Stevens, Florence Marshall, Sue Stafford, and Carol Lewis.
